The video conferencing software (if that is what you are using) must support the camera, and it is questionable if macOS will support a camera in a lower-priced, third-party monitor as just plug-n-play.

I am sitting here with a $50 Logitech C920S webcam resting on top of my 32-in LG display connected to my M1 mini. That webcam just plugs into my USB 3.1 Gen 2 hub, and without any drivers, works with Webex, Facetime, and Skype. I don't use Zoom, but there are reports from others that this particular webcam works on that service too.

The monitors I’ve posted work straight off the box, no drivers, no special software, no worries. That said most 3rd party monitor USB C ports are famously non-compliant with the Mac’s rigid power control implementation. To avoid problems, connect it to the M1’s USB A port using a suitable C-A adapter. Other than that you’ve nothing to worry about.
