Continue watching movies - Apple TV on Roku

If I leave a movie midway, exit the Apple TV app on my Roku, then want to resume later, the movie does not show in Up Next in the Home Screen. If have to go to the library, find the movie(and my library is big), then resume from there. Am I missing something? This is very basic functionality that HBO Max and Prime Video make very easy.

Also, it *seems* to work for TV shows. Just not movies. Can someone confirm? This would be a deal breaker if trying to watch a long series over many days or weeks.

Edit- about 1.5 hours in, now it appears in Watch Next. Certainly not ideal, but please disregard my question while I explore this some more.
