iMovie and zv1 Sony camera

trying to get videos from my sony zv1 camera to imovie and it keeps saying missing file , does anyone know how to fix this ? im using a usb adaptor to import the videos

The ZV1 is listed as a supported camera in Apple's list of supported cameras.


For some reason the import into iMovie is failing. What video format are the vids that are coming off of your camera? The ZV-1 records in AVCHD (supported by Apple) and XAVC S (that is not shown to be supported by

Apple). So if you recorded in XAVC S, perhaps that is the cause of the problem. Here's a link that lists the video formats supported by iMovie.


About incompatible media in iMovie for macOS – Apple Support (AU)


Also, make sure that you are following the directions in your camera's manual for exporting to a CPU.


As a workaround, try exporting your videos to the Mac desktop using the Image Capture app on your Mac. From there you can drag them into iMovie.
