“Unable to Download App” in macOS App Store

Today, when I tried updating apps in the App Store, I got this message:

Unable to Download App—“WiFi Explorer” could not be installed. Please try again later.

This shows up right after the process of installing the download appears to have been completed. The app goes back to “UPDATE.”

This happened both before and after updating Monterey from 12.4 to 12.5. Given that the app ostensibly goes through the installation process indicates that this is not a matter of the App Store servers being too busy with everyone downloading the various macOS and iOS etc. updates.

Hi D. Hoffmann,

Thanks for contacting Apple Support Communities!

We understand that you're unable to download apps after updating the macOS, correct?

Does this happen with all apps or just the WiFi Explorer app?

This is a great resource which will show you how to troubleshoot and isolate this behavior further: If you can't download or update apps on your Mac - Apple Support

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers!
