Can I trash ESD-USB folder?

I've just noticed this folder on my MacBook pro in the MacOs folder...

It shows as empty, yet when I go to 'Get Info' and type in my password to open up Sharing & Permissions, it keeps saying ...

As can be seen, it carries that ominous "No Entry" sign on the icon. Can I get rid of it, or is there some tech reason why it needs to be there?

By virtue of the Red Circle and Bar in icon, it appears to be Locked by the Operating System

It also appears to be a left-over from Creating a USB Installer on an External Drive ? If that correct ?

Predicated on above as being accurate
