asking for disk password

When is start my Mac Book Air that i just purchased from some one it asks for a disk password. I cant seem to get around this to log in. Ive used control R is there any other options

MAC BOOK ASKING FOR USERNAME AND PASSWORD AFTER START UP I noticed when I would go to close tabs/windows I would only have the option to quit and keep windows instead of just quit. So I decided to restart my computer. When I restarted it, I logged in as normal but for some reason I got a screen that asked for username and password. I was stuck and couldn't figure out what happened. All the videos and forums didn't give answers.

Disk utility locked I setup my mac to dual boot, seems when entering the firmware settings i set a password. Now it boots in Windows and when i tey enter the disk utility during startup, it asks for a password: i don't remember what it is. I am stuck using windows. Anyway to reset the password.

You bought a used Mac and it wasn't set up properly for resale.

Take it back and have the seller either swap for a properly set up one, or have this one setup properly.

Or, get the password from the previous user.
