I want to allow calls but not texts from some people in Focus Mode

Focus mode lets me choose specific people from whom to allow alerts.

But "allow alerts" seems to permit both imessages and phone calls.

What I'd like to set up it this:

- When in focus mode:

Allow calls and imessages from person X
Allow *calls* from person Y, but not imessages

It looks like you can kind of do this by allowing calls from favorites, but my favorites lists is not the same as my list of people who I want to be able to phone me.

The main reason I want to do this is: There's a small number of people who I want to be able to call me when I'm asleep, in case of anything urgent, but some of those people are also likely to text me when I'm asleep (I keep irregular hours) and I don't want to be woken by that. Any tips?

This is not currently a feature of Focus. However, you can manually silence text alerts from specific people by going to the main conversation screen in Messages, putting your finger on the conversation you want to silence, pulling to the left then tapping on the bell icon.

Or, you can make or buy a "silent" ringtone and assign it to people whose text you don't want to be bothered by. Or, if you want to get a bit more sophisticated, assign a custom (not silent) ringtone to all of the people you always want to get texts from. Then, use the "silent" tone as the default tone at night. That will silence everyone else at one go. In the morning, simply change the default tone back to something audible and you'll get alerts from everyone.
