Can I copy my iMovie app to an external drive?

Hi, I do not want to move my iMovie application, I want a copy of it including all my projects on an external drive. What’s the best way to do this please?

Simply drag and drop it onto your external drive.

Note that iMovie will only work on your boot drive so the copy will only be a backup in case something happens to your normal version . . . in which case you would copy it back onto your Mac.

Your projects will be in your iMovie Library which is usually in your Movies folder unless you have specified somewhere different.

Drag and drop your iMovie Library onto your external HD.
