It's referring to disk space, not RAM. Click here and follow the instructions.
If it matters, the actual RAM requirement is 2GB, and it isn't upgradable on a MacBook Air.

RAM may be Soldered In:
In a 2017 MacBook Air, all items are soldered in the LogicBoard. So, upgrading it is not an option, as everything is created to interact as one. So, clear items that are unnecessary such as Movies, TV Shows, Virtual Machines, etc. These can be in the GBs of data. And ridding of them would open lots of room.
Thanks. I told my friend to do himself a favor and just get an ipad. It’s more his speed since he obviously doesn’t use the laptop.
