Siri bug when asking for directions to home or work

Starting around the beginning of this month, if I ask Siri to "give me directions to home" or "work", it does a search on just the first line of the address, finds the nearest place matching that, and navigates me to there.

For example, my contact card has my home address set to Maidenhead, SL6 1QU.

When I ask Siri for directions home, it searches, finds Windsor (which is closer) and navigates me there. Exact same thing for my work address.

My home and work addresses are correctly set up (and as a precaution I have deleted and recreated them.) If I ask Siri where I live or work, it answers correctly. (Plus of course, Siri must know where I live as it is searching for 52 Festive Road, it's just ignoring the rest of the address.)

I have a workaround - shortcuts that navigate to the specific locations - but this is such a frustrating bug. I've used "Hey Dingus, take me home" thousands of times and it's in my mental muscle memory. Also, it is usually not immediately obvious that Siri is going the wrong way.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Anyone else seeing this new behaviour?

Hello Biglig,

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand that Siri is not providing you with the correct directions for home and work.

You mentioned that this issue started, at the beginning of the month. To clarify, did this occur after making any changes to your device, such as updating the software?

We'd like to provide you with some steps that may help resolve the issue and allow us to determine the root cause of the issue:

1. Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and make sure that Location Services is on and that
Maps is set to While Using the App or Widgets.

2. Make sure that you set the date, time, and time zone correctly on your device. Go to Settings >
General > Date & Time. If possible, use Set Automatically.

3. Make sure that cellular data or Wi-Fi is turned on, and that you have an active connection.

4. Close the Maps app, then open it again.

5. Restart your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch.

6. Try a different location or switch to a different Wi-Fi network.

Location Services uses GPS, Bluetooth, crowd-sourced Wi-Fi hotspots, and cellular towers to determine your location. Learn more about Location Services on your iOS or iPadOS device.

Let us know if this helps.

Take care!
