I'm not able to create a shared directory --

I created an empty folder and tried to share it, so that a friend can share pictures with me and others. The finder dialog just says "Preparing folder..." and this does not end.



I pay for 2 TB of iCloud storage, and am only using 560 GB, so lack of storage isn't the problem. And I have also tried this with a folder that has one small file, same results.


I'd be grateful if anyone has a fix or workaround for this bug!

This article is to share folders by copying the url link and share to a friend whose mail address or phone number is saved in address book of your Mac and not photos .

The correct way to share photos from your Mac to another Mac / iPhone / iPad when the devices are signed in with same Apple ID and password on the same network .

From Mac see the article Create a shared album in Photos on Mac - Apple Support the friend has to subscribe Subscribe to albums shared by other iCloud users in Photos on Mac - Apple Support a mail will be received in his web mail account , or IMAP account is configured they have to click on the link to accept invitation the photos will be shared .
