Will AirTags start to beep when I'm separated from them?

Hi there,

My cats (who stay indoors) have AirTags just incase they slip out.

The tags are set to not notify me if they are left behind at my home location.

I’ll be going on vacation soon for a week and will have a house sitter.

Does anybody know if the tags will start to beep because I’ll be separated from them? Or because they will (hopefully be staying at home) that feature won’t get activated?

I don’t want to annoy the house sitter with beeps but I don’t want to turn off the tag unless I can’t avoid it.

Hi RSMWT,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. The steps here will allow you to set a Trusted Location so that when you leave for your trip you won't get separation alerts unless they leave the house:

Set separation alerts in case you leave an AirTag or item behind in Find My on iPhone - Apple Support

"Tap Items at the bottom of the screen, then tap the name of the item you want to set an alert for.
Below Notifications, tap Notify When Left Behind.
Turn on Notify When Left Behind.
If you want to add a Trusted Location, you can choose a suggested location, or tap New Location, select a location on the map, then tap Done.
Tap Done."
