How do I change the ownership of my AirPods Max?

I recently got a pair of airpods max headphones off of ebay. I absolutely love them, but the only setback is when i first connected it to my device, it said that the previous owner (who i bought it from) can still see it’s location. Because I bought them online I do not know the previous owner personally… is there anyway for me to change the ownership/apple ID without having to talk to its past owner?

Yes, you may do this because AirPods are not signed into using an Apple ID.

I apologize. You said AirPods Max … you’re absolutely right - they remain associated with the original owner’s Apple ID until the original owner removes them.

They are locked. Get a refund if you can’t contact the original owner.
