Apple Music app display freezes, but music carries on...

Hello - I've tried to find an answer for this but keep coming up short. Basically, after one or two songs of a playlist (downloaded or streamed - makes no difference), the display of the Music app (on MacBook Air M1 2020) freezes. By display I mean the small rectangle at the centre top, showing Artist, Song and duration. Also, the grey highlighted 'song' bar (in the main playlist display) doesn't advance to the next song, either. However, the music continues to play, and advance to the next song.

If, when this (display freeze) occurs, you click the 'forward/advance to next song ' arrows the Music app restarts the current song playing, NOT the next one, or the one on the (frozen) display. At this point, it does then update the display - it kind of comes back to life.

I'm all up to date on everything / software etc - but can't fathom it out; it's driving me potty, to be honest.

Any ideas, help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

David

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities, David Hill10,

To troubleshoot unexpected app behavior, we recommend using the steps below. These are taken from the Apple Support article If an app on your Mac stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support and are designed to help with a variety of app performance issues:

1. Quit and reopen the app

Quit the app, then open it again. If the app won't quit, force the app to quit. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

2. Restart your Mac

Restart your Mac. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.

3. Check for updates

To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, then click Updates. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your Mac. Or if you didn't get the app from the App Store, look for updates to the app on the app developer's website. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed.
