Sonos with Airplay not working on Mac mini M1

The Airplay sound is dropped when sound stops playing. The connection seems to work from both sides but just the sound stops.

No issue with iPhone or other mac devices must have something to do with the M1 platform.

I'm on macOS Monterey version 12.4

iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 10.15

Greetings Omni_Brain,

Test after restarting both devices. Check out the additional troubleshooting steps in the article below to troubleshoot AirPlay issues:

If screen mirroring or streaming isn't working on your AirPlay-compatible device - Apple Support

"Try these steps first

After each step, see if you still need help.

  1. Make sure that your AirPlay-compatible devices are turned on and near each other.
  2. Check that the devices are updated to the latest software and are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  3. Restart the devices that you want to use with AirPlay or screen mirroring."

Kind regards.

Omni_Brain,

Do you run into the same issue if you test AirPlay audio from your M1 to another speaker? Knowing this will help to narrow things down a bit.

We also recommend setting up a new administrator account on your Mac and signing in there, and then testing with the Sonos. This will help determine if you have a system-wide or user-specific issue: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac - Apple Support

Add a user
On your Mac, choose Apple menu  > System Preferences, then click Users & Groups .
If the lock at the bottom left is locked , click it to unlock the preference pane.
Click the Add button  below the list of users.
Click the New Account pop-up menu, then choose a type of user.
Administrator: An administrator can add and manage other users, install apps, and change settings. The new user you create when you first set up your Mac is an administrator. Your Mac can have multiple administrators. You can create new ones, and convert standard users to administrators. Don’t set up automatic login for an administrator. If you do, someone could simply restart your Mac and gain access with administrator privileges. To keep your Mac secure, don’t share administrator names and passwords.

From there, you'd enter a test username and password and click "Create User." Then sign in and test it out, and let us know the results.

Have a good one.
