Apple Watch not sharing location, only iPhone

My Apple Watch does not share my location, only my iPhone. But, when I look at my settings in Find My it says “This device and cellular Apple Watches” are checked on.

Thanks for the reply.

Let's check your settings on your Apple Watch.

Open the Find People app from your Apple Watch > tap your name (might show "me") > Make sure you have "Share My Location" enabled here. If it is, toggle it off and back on, then check to see if the issue persists.

Feel free to reply with the results and more details if it persists.

All the best.

Hello GabiFrassiMadi,

Thanks for your post to Apple Support Communities. We'll be happy to look at this issue with your Apple Watch. First, we'd recommend making sure the watchOS is fully updated:

Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support

Next, sometimes restarting both your Apple Watch and iPhone will help resolve an issue:

Restart your Apple Watch - Apple Support

If the issue hasn't resolved, let's dig deeper. Does it matter which contact you are trying to message share your location? Do you get an error message?

We look forward to hearing how it goes.

Take care.

Hey there GabiFrassiMadi,

Let's ensure things are set up correctly using the Find People app. Following View a friend’s location with Apple Watch,

"Add a friend

  1. Open the Find People app  on your Apple Watch.
  2. Tap Share My Location.
  3. Tap the Dictation, Contacts, or Keypad button to choose a friend.
  4. Select an email address or phone number.
  5. Choose how long to share your location—for one hour, until the end of the day, or indefinitely.

Your friend receives a notification that you’ve shared your location. They can choose to also share their location with you. After your friend agrees to share their location, you can see where they are in a list or on a map in the Find My app on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, and Mac, or the Find People app on Apple Watch."

Keep in mind, your location may be shared using your iPhone instead of your Apple Watch with cellular, unless you don't have your iPhone with you.

Have a good one!
