iPhone Storage Full message when storage is not full?

How do I get rid of the message “iPhone Storage Full” on my iPhone 11 when storage is not full (actually less than half full)?

iPhone 11, iOS 15

Hi JimMcWhinnie,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities!

We’ll need some additional information to provide more specific support. Are you seeing the storage message when you're using a specific app or feature? If so, which app or feature?

iOS provides some options to help fix storage issues. This can be found in the iPhone Storage menu. Here's how to find the recommendations:

Go to Settings > General > [Device] Storage. You might see a list of recommendations for optimizing your device's storage, followed by a list of installed apps and the amount of storage each one uses. Tap an app's name for more information about its storage. Cached data and temporary data might not be counted as usage.

In the detailed view you can:

• Offload the app, which frees up storage used by the app, but keeps its documents and data.
• Delete the app, which removes the app and its related data.
• Depending on the app, you might be able to delete some of its documents and data

This information is from How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support.

Let us know what you find out.

Cheers.

If you're saying that going to Settings > General > iPhone Storage shows that your phone storage capacity is only half used, then it's likely that the message you are seeing has to do with iCloud storage?

If you check Settings > [your name] > iCloud, you will see a similar bar graph that shows your iCloud storage use. You get 5GB free with your Apple ID, if you've got that nearly filled up.. the message you're seeing may be due to that.

If it's your iCloud storage space filled up, then you'd either need to address it by turning off some switches in that same menu area.. or upgrading your iCloud storage. I see you came here from the support article about the difference between iPhone storage and iCloud storage. Here is a link for upgrading iCloud storage.
