How do I get mac mail to learn that certain emails are junk? Dragging junk email to the junk folder simply has no effect.

Moving junk mail to my junk folder has no effect on future incoming junk mail from the same source. What can I do?

Deleted junk mails (RCN) keep reappearing I use Mac OS 13.4 Ventura, with Mail for MacOS. Lately, whenever I go to the Junk Mail folder in my RCN account and delete the mails (confirming by clicking on the "do you want to delete 150 junk mails?" dialog box), they disappear momentarily--then reappear! The only way I can permanently delete them is by logging into RCN via Webmail. (And the reason I use Mail for MacOS is precisely to avoid going through the pain-in-the-butt of logging into webmail, which is an infuriatingly redundant time-waster). Is this something I have to contact RCN to fix? (I hate doing that because their customer service reps are incomprehensible and generally incompetent). Is this something I can remedy in Mail's Settings?

Junk mail filtered even when not enabled I am on MacOS Ventura 13.3.1 w/Apple Mail Version 16.0 (3731.500.231). My Junk mail settings look like this: So I would expect Junk mail to not be filtered into the Junk folder, however, I am seeing Junk mail continue to be moved into the Junk mail folder for this iCloud account. I've checked the settings in iCloud Mail and there doesn't appear to be a Junk mail setting there. Why is junk mail still getting filtered into the Junk folder? Did I miss a setting somewhere? Thnx!

MacOS Mail junk versus spam I regularly check my JUNK folder to restore legitimate emails which are often included, and then delete all the rest. But there are also SPAM folders which are independent of the Junk filter. How can I ensure that these unread spam emails are automatically moved to the Junk folder so I don’t have to scan the rubbish twice? If I manually move all the spam emails to Junk, will MAIL then remember that the spam emails are also junk and move them there automatically in future? Would they also retain the label SPAM which is visible in my smart mailbox for UNREAD mail? How does MAIL distinguish between JUNK and SPAM? If the Spam emails are registered externally by Apple, then I would feel confident in just deleting them all without even checking them, something I cannot do with Junk mail.
