Burning DVD - Apple SuperDrive - Big Sur

Is it possible to burn a DVD on my Apple SuperDrive while working on other things on my iMac? In other words, does it interfere with the burning process (in the background) if other activity is going on? eg: working in Adobe Creative cloud; or moving files from one location to another (independent of the DVD being burned).

iMac 27″, macOS 11.6

The short answer is yes, you can burn a DVD while doing other things.
