I have an iPhone 8 Plus and it won’t let me update my phone to anything higher only iOS 15.5 but my phone is compatible with iOS 16 and it’s not letting me. Do you know how I can get the update and fix this?

iOS 16 will be release around September, some weeks after the presentation of the new iPhone.
now, the beta version of iOS 16 is available only for beta testers (you must subscribe to the program, paying a annual fee). In some weeks, the beta version of iOS 16 will be public, so even you can download it becoming part of the public beta program (different from the first one, dedicated to developers).
If you are not a developer or a person working with beta versions, my suggestion is to NOT download the public beta version, waiting for the final version in september.
iOS 16 will be released sometime in the Fall. Your phone will let you know when it is ready to download.
