I got two blue alerts this afternoon. What setting should I turn off? I'd still like to know if there's a tornado or impending nuclear attack. I just don't want to get spammed whenever a convenience store robbery goes sour. This seems like a great system for training people to ignore real emergencies.

Thanks, I hadn't thought to check that. This what verizon says. Terminology is a little different from the iphone settings. I have a feeling I'm not the only person with this question today.

The technical problem is, there are several settings related to government alerts, and the available documentation doesn't really describe what they mean.
AMBER alerts (I know what that means)
Emergency Alerts
Public Safety Alerts
I'm guessing this is a public safety alert, but I have no idea what else I won't find out about if I turn that setting off.
If it is something about a crime, then it would be considered a Public Safety Alert. Much of the control about these types of alerts are handled through your cellular carrier. Try calling them to see if they have a more detailed listing.
