download O/S Catalina late 2012 Version

My hard disk got wiped out and I need to reload the O/S

with a fresh download from the Apple Store.

How do I go about.

I have an iMac late 2012 unit.

Download Mac OS Catalina I am presently running MaxOS Catalina on my iMac (late 2012). It is experiencing operating difficulties, slow to load at start-up and when working with my Apps. I up dated the OS to the most recent (10.16.7), but that did not help any. I now want to do a clean install. However, the only MacOS Catalina on the Apple App Store is the one for updating. How can I get the OS full version in order to create a bootable OS Catalina? Thanks

Download (ONLY) MacOS Catalina My system became corrupt on my MacBook Air so the traditional 'restore' will not work because the restore image is no longer there. Using another MacBook (pro) to download (ONLY), Catalina, it fails saying that the OS is up to date (meaning the MacBook Pro). Then it stops without completing the download because it was trying to install the OS simultaneously . How can I just download the OS to a folder without it trying to install when the download I about 80% complete? I need to move the download to the MacBook Air. Thanks
