cleaning up an iPhone

I would like to cleanup my iPhone 8. I was planning on backing it up to my mac then perform a delete all on the phone. I would like to restore everything except the apps. I would then like to download individual apps from the Purchased apps list in the App Store. Will this work or will I end up cursing my head off?

Thanks

john

What are you trying to do, free up storage space?

First of all, making a backup is never a bad idea. Backing up to your own computer instead of iCloud is very smart.

Once the first backup is made, you should simply delete the apps that you no longer use. Each time you try to delete an app that has file data behind it, you will be asked if you want to keep or delete those file data. Choose delete and everything but your permission to reinstall that app is gone from your phone.

Once you have the phone configured as you desire, make another backup (with a different file name). Good luck.
