I don’t understand how I have data without a SIM card or why I was told I could not have cellular with my device by Verizon I’m very confused can anyone please help me?

your asking about connection i think your data is cutting your line and you can use the wifi also if you have connection to wifi, the wifi is need ip address to automatic search your phone to connect in wifi.

Why do you think you don't have a SIM? Last I checked, Verizon didn't sell WiFi-only iPads.

You don't need cellular service to have data. You can use WiFi. You need to ask the Verizon rep why you couldn't have cellular on the iPad.
