When i open Contacts, the same contact automatically shows/is open without being selected. I have tried force closing Contacts, and restarting my phone. Also updated to most recent ios. How do i fix this so that all contacts show when opening Contacts (like normal)? please help.

Just to be sure i am understanding.. i opened Contacts > because it always opens the same contact i clicked "< Contacts" in the top left corner to go back to all my contacts list > i then selected another contact, opened their information by click "edit" (even made a small edit to their details on a second try of this) > force closed the app > opened Contacts again... and Yes. it STILL opens with the same contact automatically showing; not even the one i selected to edit. It's like it is stuck on this one same contact.

Ive tried that many many many many many times. It has not changed. I am confused by your second part.. this has all been in the phone Contacts app. This is where the issue is every time i open the app on my phone. Am i misunderstanding something?

We want to ensure that we are on the same page. Are you using the Contacts app or a third party app? Also, please navigate to Settings > General > About and confirm your exact iOS version.
If you have another iOS device, test to see if the issue happens there too. This will help to isolate the issue.

Thank you for those details. The Contacts app should open the last contact that was accessed. Let's go to another contact and close the app. Open the app again and test to see if it changed.
Let's also access contacts in the phone app and test to see if the same thing happens.

You're correct. You should only see the last contact card accessed if you navigate away from the Contacts app using the App Switcher and then back again to the Contacts app.
However, as you've force closed the app and tried a normal restart there indeed seems to be an issue.
With the Contacts app open if you see the blue text "Groups" at the top left corner you can tap this and ensure all accounts are selected. The very bottom section "Show or hide a group" from the guide page here Use other contact accounts on iPhone also has the steps if needed.
If you have no "Groups" option or the issue continues, reach out to Apple Support to further assist.

Apologies for any confusion. If you open the Phone app and select a different contact and choose to "edit" their details, then close this out, are you then able to open the Contacts app to a different contact? Or does it still just automatically go to that one contact you mentioned previously? If so, reach out for additional assistance here: Get Support.

Hi there. I am using the Apple Contacts app that comes with the phone. Currently on iOS 15.5. The only other device i have is my macbook and this oddity does not happen on it. hope this helps...
