I have a lot of pictures that I would like to have on my new MacBook pro. What would the best method be to move the data from the old computer to the new one? I have tried searching and there is lots of talk of the migration tool or using airdrop. I don't think my old computer has either.
I would be grateful for any advice please

By default the library is in the pictures folder. Called photos library.photoslibrary
If you have iPhoto on the old mac instead of photos, then the name will be different. I think the extension is .iphotolibrary - but could be wrong

If I was doing it, I'd transfer the libryary to an external drive (formated APFS or MacOS extended (not case sensitive), and then copy it from there to the pictures folder of the new mac.
I should have said that the old machine has Yosemite on it and the new machine has Monterey, maybe that helps
