iPhones have built in temperature monitors. If the internal temperature exceeds a safe value the phone will shut down and display a message saying it needs to cool off. If this is not happening it is not overheating, even if it feels warm. And it is normal for any device to get warm when charging, especially if you are using a fast charger (>12 watts). Physical rules, and that rule is the 2nd law of thermodynamics.
