I am trying to connect my iMac to my MacBook Pro. They are connected with the thunderbolt 4 cable, though I am not able to use a dual screen still. The other Mac is not visible in "Add Display". Please help!

Rather than attempt to use multiple screens, I suggest you explore working in multiple desktop spaces managed by Mission Control. Everything you need is already baked into the OS.

This is a feature that I use every day on my Macs. One screen, many desktops, little clutter, no expense.
You cannot use a 2021 iMac as a display.
If you are trying to AirPlay between them, they both have to be running Monterey, and "AirPlay Receiver" has to be enabled in System Preferences > Sharing.
