My iMac updated drives won’t mount

My iMac did an update last night and now I can’t access my external hard drives. They show in disk utility but will not mount! Help!

Have you tried running First Aid? Try a different cable. Try on a different Mac.

Restart and see if that helps.

External Hard Drives, storage device won't mount. Have a late 2015 27" iMac running Monterey. Routinely back up Time Machine to a 5T Ext drive. Recently turned on ext HD and it would not mount. Used Disk Utility, other cables, ports, etc. No change. Tried other ext HD, including a Thumb drive. None will mount. They will, however, mount on my Mac Studio, and my 17" MacBook Pro with El Capitan. System Report on iMac seems to show the 5T drive connected by USB 3.0, but no other info. Thinking I seem to have some corrupted portion of the system software and should reload.

external hard drive wont mount when I restarted my iMac 2020 with Ventura installed. Sometimes the external hard disk which I used for Time Machine won't mount. I have to disconnect the drive and then replug it in then it mounts. first aid found no errors. I also checked the cable and did a hardware test all fine. I am thinking it could be a bug?

External Drive won’t show up after update I just updated my iMac to the latest and long awaited firmware. Now all my external hard drives won’t show up. I have tried everything I know. Please help.

Its a 2012 iMac and apparently Catalina is the issue.
