Remove App from Apple Watch

Hi,

I can’t remove unwanted apps from my Apple Watch. I can remove some but the majority just wiggle but not show a ‘x’ it the red trash can.

This is the same in list view or grid view. I couldn’t see how to remove them on the iPhone either.

the Photo shows I can’t remove the news app.

apple watch series 3 A1858 and has latest iOS - 8.5.1
