When I select File> Library> Export Library> Music creates an XML file that then cannot be opened. The message is that there is "no Error Detail available. Location:Line 2, Column 9."
Can I select a different format to export to or is there a fix to this issue?

The purpose of that command is to save copies of playlists to use on another computer. On the other computer use the import command] to read the playlist(s). Playlists are just the names of the songs, not the songs themselves.
In the Music app

Ah, I'm just completing the process, which was useful for the original poster. Have you tried exporting a single playlist in XML form as I suggested in your thread iTunes Library .xml Error - Apple Community?

Yes, I know this is just a list of the songs, and that is exactly what I want. But the file that is created (Library.xml) cannot be opened in Word or any other app other than a text editor which is not organized, but is just a long un organized string of words. which is very difficult to read. I get the message I mentioned above.
If the format of the file could be something other than .XML I might be able to use it, but for some reason the file Music creates is corrupted.

After CMD+A and CMD+C you need to go into Excel or Numbers and use CMD+V. There is nothing to see after you copy something, but imagine it is there anyway and when you paste you should get what you were looking for. Not too complex I hope.

The Export command is really pretty useless for most people. If you want a readable version of your playlist, use CMD-A, CMD-C, and paste it into Excel.

Hi, I am having this exact same issue, but I can't figure out exactly what you did?
I'm going in to iTunes and hitting CMD+A and then CMD+C but this is doing the square root of nothing for me?
How would that help, though? That just provides a list of all the songs but doesn't provide any kind of XML structure for playlists. You'd literally just get a long list of songs.
