How can I set a song as ringtone in my iPhone?

How can I set a song as ringtone? I bought the sound and got it from the iTunes Store. The purchased ringtone is not in the SOUND, but MUSIC tab. Can I set it as a ringtone anyway?

If you use a decent music editing app, preferably on a Mac, and shorten the song to 20 seconds, save, and rename as type .m4r instead of .m4a then transfer it to iPhone you might get it to work.

I would google further on the process.
