New MacBook Pro crashes several times a day with a kernel panic

The system reboots randomly multiple times a day, especially after waking up (lid opened etc).

The following message appears at the top of the crash log:

panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffe001e7eec98): busy timeout[0], (60s): 'IOUserEthernetController' @IOService.cpp:5520

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 12.0

Kernel Panics are predominately caused by hardware faults or faulty third-party kernel extensions.
