I have 10.15.7 Catalina but am unable to download Monterey. I reset my NVRAM and went into recovery mode and ran first aid to no avail. When I go into system preferences and check for updates it just keeps checking for updates and never comes up with anything. Any thoughts?

If Sys Prefs > Software Update doesn't come up with anything, it's likely there is no OS upgrade for your Mac. Go to the Apple Menu > About This Mac to find out exactly which Mac you have, then check the following link to see if your Mac is on the list of compatible computers, and if it is, you can get Monterey from there: How to upgrade to macOS Monterey - Apple Support.

FWIW, a few people with 2014 iMacs have had a false notice for the Monterey upgrade. If that's not the case, open the App Store, search for Monterey and try downloading it from there.
