my trusted phone is not mine

I changed the number on my apple id to be my phone number instead of my sons but it still sends code to his phone. How can I change?

A trusted device is one that has your AppleID signed into iCloud. It is not defined by the cellular telephone number you associate with your AppleID.

AppleID 2 factor authentication codes are sent by default to your trusted devices using iCloud encrypted notifications, not to your cellular telephone number. The cellular number is only used as backup when a trusted device is not available.
