So I'm planning to order my 7 series watch online from Apple Store USA, and have my friend carry it for me to India. I'm planning on buying the GPS+Cellular model. I wanted to know if the Cellular model of the watch from USA will work in India too. Can anyone please confirm the same?
I'd like to update everyone that Apple watch 7 Series GPS+Cellular model bought from USA works perfectly fine in India. I'm able to make and receive calls. I have activated the eSim from Jio and it works perfectly fine for me. However, please do your own due diligence before purchasing. I was told by US Customer Support that it won't work in India. But it connected seamlessly without any effort at one go. I'm attaching an image for understanding that the cellular mode has been activated on the phone.

So I have some good news... Cellular from US is working... I'm using Jio eSim... It will surely work with others too. Vodafone i couldn't try coz i have prepaid number and voda only allows esim for postpaid billing.

Thanks fieryjack. Later i was going through some other forum conversations and found out that 1 guy in Oct 2021 bought a 7 series apple watch from USA and it worked perfectly fine in India. I guess I'll take the chance for $100 and go ahead.
Hi deggie, you got it wrong. The difference between only GPS and GPS+Cellular is $100... I would be spending 100 dollars more the Cellular model and if it didn't work in India, that would go waste. I'm buying it from apple store online for $529 + Taxes... Only GPS would be $429
Contact AirTel and Jio. Ask them what they will support, and what limitations you will have with a U.S. Apple Watch in India. I think some of the frequencies available in India are not used by U.S. Apple Watches, so you have have signal drop-outs in some areas.
Apple will not support you, as the U.S. model is not intended for the cellular systems in India. FieryJack has indicated the countries where the U.S. model will work and be supported by Apple.
Hi Raghav.. My friend's coming down on after first week of March.. Shall update you once I get it for sure. I know, like me, there'll be many who would wonder. I'll definitely post here even if the cellular doesn't work. Could help others making a clear choice.

Just keep this in mind, if you get this watch (which won't work with Jio or any other carrier in India) and say you need to have it replaced under your warranty two months from now. You will have to send it back to your friend in the US, have them take it in for service and then send it back to you. As your friend will soon find out shipping devices that have lithium polymer batteries is not cheap and not all companies will do so.

A cellular watch bought in the US will only function in North America,Canada,Mexico and Puerto Rico anywhere else it will function as a GPS only watch.
