Connect to external mornitor

I have a old macbook air (2017) and recently tried to connect it with an external mornitor. The macbook only has usb so I used a adapter and a docking station. But it faild to connect with Dell mornitor and my projecton, saying no signal.

Does old macbook air support vedio output/connect with external mornitor? Or something else is wrong?

You need a MiniDisplayPort to ether HDMI or DisplayPort adapter or cable and plug it into the Thunderbolt Port. That model MacBook Air does not support video over USB.

Which adapter/cable you get depends on the ports on the display.
