AirPod issues when connected to iPhone only

I suddenly can't hear anything on my AirPods from my iPhone. I can hear when connected to my laptop and iPad, but not from my phone. I have reset several times and reconnected but nothing seems to work! I can hear and see that it's connected but there's no sound. Help?
