M1 Pro Internet connectivity

I experience a persistent problem connecting to the internet via WiFi after disconnecting my laptop from the LAN. My other iOS devices have no WiFi connection issues. I have a 2021 MacBook Pro M1. It normally requires two steps to resolve the issue. I have to restart my Mac and then turn WiFi off and back on again. I've had this issue with OS Monterey 12.1, unfortunately, I don't remember whether it was occurring with 12.0.

If you continue to have trouble after using these steps, create a new named Network "Location" -- a collection of settings applied "all at once" when you select it. Every new named "Location" you create starts with all defaults, which lets you walk away from any bogus settings that might be causing you trouble:

The newest Macs running the latest macOS are constantly evaluating all available networks, looking for the best connection. In busy network neighborhoods, with lots of routers visible, this can take a distressingly long time. Your Mac has to scan all the channels and listen to the signals from each and every one.

Wi-Fi slow — current accommodations include:

• Updating to the very latest version of Monterey.

• Checking the [√] ask to Join new networks check box:

AND purging the list of potentially-available networks in this pane:

System preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > (Advanced) ...

... to leave ONLY the networks you might really join:

>> all of these reduce the number of networks your Mac is evaluating on a moment-by moment basis, looking for a better connection.

• set IPv6 to link-local only, instead of on or off.
