Disappearing screenshot

My screenshots appear on my desktop but then in 3 seconds disappear. I have a MacBook Pro. 2020. This has been going on for awhile but I am just now finding it annoying enough to put it out there. Any ideas where I can find my runaway screenshots? I did the System Prefs/Keyboard/Shortcuts/Screenshots thing and deleted all defaults and then rechecked all defaults, and this STILL didn't solve the issue. Any ideas?

i would use the "command-shift-5" keyboard shortcut, and then open "options" and see what location the screenshots are being saved to.
