I have been trying to reinstall os x on my Mac air, mid 20011, keep getting the error message that syas "a required download is missing". Any help here?

Yes I followed all that step, but you didn't even address the specific issue I raised! After following the steps, and just when the installer is about to start, I get the error message, "a required download is missing".
We’re glad you were able to try alternate options for booting in to macOS Recovery paulinus80.
With having completed those steps and continuing to get the error message “a required download is missing” message, the next step is to contact Apple. You can find their contact details online via the Get Support website.
