Can't access app store on 2010 mid macbook

I am currently trying to download from the app store but the login is not working. I know it is the right password as I have been into appleid.com and changed it and it works on the communities forum. How can I access from the app store? I have Yosemite running on it at present.

I clicked on the link to High Sierra from the first link you gave above:

  • macOS High Sierra can upgrade Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, Mavericks, Mountain Lion

It prompts you to open the app store and when I try and do that it says it can't complete my purchase and This version of macOS 10.13.6 cannot be installed on this computer. Not sure where i can go from here?

The Age of this computer will Govern what newer version of macOS it will Qualify to install. Use About this Mac from the Apple Icon on Desktop - the required Information will be there.

With the above information in-hand - follow this How to get old versions of macOS and verify what version this computer Qualifies to install.  For Best results use Safari to commence the download as Others may not work.

Safari will open a redirect and open the Apple Store where the download can commence

High Sierra is a far as this computer can go and not further

Make Time Machine Backup  is very useful and can be used to Revert to Previous Working macOS

Are there any AntiVirus, Disk Cleaner, Optimizers, Un-installers, etc installed which should be removed as per Developers Instructions. They are useless, unneeded, cause havoc and interfere with the normal  operation of the OS and may even Corrupt the OS requiring a Reinstallation

I have 3 apple id accounts and 2 devices.

My 2010 macbook was purchased when the email address was still googlemail. That is a whole separate account but there is no device listed in the device section. I then have another apple ID with the same email address but where it is spelt Gmail. The 2010 device and serial number is listed in that account. These are 2 separate accounts with separate passwords, with teh same recovery tel. no. on both. One of them doesn't have the option to put a 2nd recovery email address down.

I then have another ID for my 2015 Mac with a completely separate email which I have no issues with and I was able to update to Monterey this week with no problem.

The 2010 macbook I want to update from Yosemite to High Sierra. There is no software update in system preferences. Whenever I try to download something from the app store (I tried it with a tea timer) it says the ID or password is wrong but that is definitely not the case! The phone then rings with a code but there is no prompt on the system as to where to put the code. Also I tested changing the password and trying again, with both accounts but I still get no further forward. I have tried to download High Sierra on Safari but that didn't work.

Should I delete one of the apple accounts? (Can you delete them?) I see others post similar problems when they inherit a machine from someone else and they are not able to upgrade it.

Yes I have 10.10.5 and a mid 2010 macbook. How can I get one of the later OS?. The app store does not show any updates and clearly it should show all the OS after Yosemite. Whenever I try to log into the app store and do anything it says my password doesn't work no matter how many times I change it and type in the code that is sent to my phone.

On another note I tried to turn on icloud on the 2010 macbook and put in my ID password and it gave a prompt for a code sent to my other device. I don't have another device listed! I have another macbook linked with another apple ID but there was no code given there either.
