hi I’m trying to connect my Apple Watch to my phone but it won’t connect because I need to update so I updated my phone and then it says I need to update the watch and it’s trying to find an update but it still won’t and it says I have no Internet but I’m on a net right now

Help bought a watch and unable to connect to my phone i bought a series 3 apple watch and when trying to connect to my iphone 12 mini it says that it needs to update when i continue it then tells me it is not able to find and update because i am not connected to the internet when i am and im on wifi. HELP!
