Why do I have to tap the screen on my Apple Watch series 6 to see the time?

If it annoys you so much, just enable Always on Display, Apple Watch Series 6 definitely has that feature. You can also raise to wake I believe.

If you don’t use it for a long time, the watch will darken the screen to conserve battery. It happens with phones too.
