Encrypted backup password removal

I forgot the encryption password for the iPhone backup on my PC.

I intended to remove the backups an create a new one with a fresh encryption password.

I removed the backups and followed the instructions to remove the password, however the back up encryption option is still on and dimmed. So it will not allow me to check it off.

The option there is to change the password that I can't do because it requires the old password - that I do not remember.

I have an iPhone 8 (IOS 15.2), Windows 10, and iTunes (12.12.2.2) environment.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

But reading the steps for how to remove the encrypted password I think I see a "typo"

Step 2:

Tap Reset Network Settings and enter your device passcode.

It is supposed to be Reset all settings

I'm fairly sure it is wrong because of the language in step 3:

Follow the steps to reset your settings. This won't affect your user data or passwords, but it will reset settings like display brightness, Home Screen layout, and wallpaper. It also removes your encrypted backup password.

This is explaining what Reset all setting does, not what reset network settings does.

So follow the guide provided, but don't reset network settings, reset All settings. It will as it say remove all settings, including home screen layout and wallpaper, but will not erase your data.
