Apple ID/IPad passcode

Why? (Looks painfully up at the sky).. my son has forgotten his iPad passcode, he also forgot his Apple ID password. My MacBook Pro died a sudden death and now I’m trying to recover his info. It’d be really nice if his Apple ID were linked to mine but I used his iCloud email. I suppose after two hours that I am just venting here. It should be simpler when kids are involved.. rant over, thanks.
