Can you remove grid line from a screen shot?

I accidentally took a screen shot instead of a photo and now the picture has grid lines on it. Is there a way to remove them? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Screenshots are tiling. How do I stop that? I may take multiple screen shots and they go to the desk top. But they are piled on top of each other. How do I make them stay as individual shots?
