My only guess would be to rename the home folder. Make sure you do this from another admin user account or you will create a lot more problems. You must log out of the user you are going to change, and then log into the other user account.

You don't have to rename the short user name, but you should rename whatever home folder it is using to match your short user name.

You will see which folder it is using when you access the Advanced… pane in Users & Groups.

Do create a new admin user now, as Barney mentioned.

And before anything else, make sure to have a full up to date backup.

Changing the user account as Barney suggested might solve it, but it is always a risky operation.

First of all we need to determine which is the real home folder. If press command-shift-H in tge Finder, where does it take you?

In addition, it shows my original user name, Loren, is in the Deleted Folder.

That's because it replaced it for some reason.
