Spatial Audio Unavailable

Hi,

I am a Mac M1 user and I have noticed that the Spatial Audio option is always grayed out on Mac (even when listening to Dolby Atmos songs on Apple Music with my AirPods Pro).

I can correctly activate it & listen to the difference using my iPhone or iPad but I cannot use it on my Mac.

Any idea?

Best,

Leo

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I think that my MacBook Pro M1 does not support Spatial Audio since it is supported only by MacBooks 2021 onwards and this is why I cannot enable it.

I am wondering if they will ever enable the Fixed Spatial Audio one day on M1…

Hey there urbanstyle_87,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. From the screenshot you shared, it looks like Spatial Audio is enabled. Open Music and click on Music > Preferences. Then click on Playback and see if Dolby Atmos is set to Always On. If it is, then supported songs should play in Dolby Atmos as expected. You can read more about enabling this in the following links:
