Buying an app with Apple Account Balance

I am trying to purchase and download an app from the App Store. I still have some money from a gift card in my account (I used some to buy a different app a little while ago). When I try to buy the app, it takes me to a page where I have to verify a payment method even thou I already have enough in my balance (which shows up on the page, I just can’t select it). The last time this happened I had to leave my family, use my Apple balance, then ask the organizer to re-add me to get the app I wanted. Is there a better way to get the app?

If the option for your payment method is Greyed out, that means that someone in your family sharing group is Sharing Purchases.

You do not want leave your family sharing group again, cause you won't be able to join another. You can only change family sharing groups once every 365 Days.

They will need to turn off purchase sharing, in their settings > name > family sharing. > https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201079

You will need to confirm that your payment method has no errors and make sure there are no unpaid orders.

You can check your purchase history for anything pending > https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204088

Hope this helps ;)

Are you sure that the account balance covers the app and any sales tax added in the final steps of the sale?

That is most often why you are asked for other payment details.
